Western Australia

I’ll share my trip here in the future.

We spent 12 days driving Western Australia, from Perth south to Augusta, then east to Esperance and beyond.  Then back to Perth mostly through the interior.  Then from Perth to Cape Range Nalt Park/Ningaloo, then back to Perth.  We really loved most of our experiences in Western Australia.  We thought we would enjoy the people more, and did meet several kind people, but we felt like we met too many rude or at least very reserved.  Physically, W.A. is specially unique in the world.  Here you will see & experience many things rare in the world, or even not found anywhere else.

Highlights & lowlights include:

Perth’s Kings Park & Zoo, Peel petting zoo, Karri eucalyptus forests, Cape Leeuwin, the forests near Pemberton, the Elephant Rocks area, the beaches around Esperance, hiking near Wave Rock, the Pinnacles (aka Penicles), Kalbarri area’s unique atmosphere, hand-feeding wild dolphins at Monkey Mia, the atmosphere of Denham, shell beaches, giant termite mounds (aka breasticles), the Ningaloo reef area, and (a lowlight) hitting a kangaroo with our rental car, being stranded roadside 150 kilometers/100 miles south of the nearest town (Exmouth) for around 10 hours overnight, having to fetch a (later to be determined potentially dangerous) wolf spider that flew into our car on a web strand during the night, and hitching a ride back to Exmouth in a roadtrain.  Oh, and dealing with Hertz car hire (which will never happen again).
