Going Remote

There are few things I’d rather do than go remote.  I have been there quite a few times, though I have never really arrived and I am always compelled to continue toward a different remoteness.  There are several different perspectives on what being remote looks and feels like.  I believe that none of them are wrong.  In fact, for me one of the great beauties of going and being remote is that it is so often a place that is both simplistic in its beauty yet so full of possibility!  What shade of blue will the sky be there?  Which clouds are visiting?  What mood is the sea in today?  What challenges and opportunities will the landscape provide?  What uniqueness is found there?  No two places are ever alike.  There you are, in the infinite variety of the place, all your senses fully alive.  You probably took risk, you probably sacrificed, you might be exhausted, cold, and hungry, but your soul has never been so alive as now in that place.

This blog will be the sharing of several trips I’ve taken.  Each trip usually visits remoteness at some or several points.  Each is the accumulation of hundreds of questions that I hope will answer some of yours.
